The first step to becoming a certificated substitute teacher for Durham Unified School District is to register a valid California teaching credential with Butte County Office of Education (BCOE) located at 1859 Bird Street, Oroville, California 95965. Fingerprinting will also be obtained and cleared by BCOE. Appointments are required please call 530-532-5645.
Certificated substitute application packets can be picked-up from the Durham Unified School District office Monday- Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30p.m. The office is located at 9420 Putney Drive, Durham, CA 95938
The following documents must be submitted with the application:
- A valid California teaching credential or Emergency Permit
- A copy of CBEST or equivalent
- A copy of a negative TB test (less than 4 years old)
- Two forms of identification (example: driver's license and social security card)
Once we have received the required documents you will be notified by the District Services Clerk, Jean Campbell. Durham Unified School District utilizes the automated substitute caller system AESOP. Information will be provided on the use of the system along with you username and password, once you have been registered as a certificated substitute.
