Dear Parents,
You are invited to attend a special reading event at our school...The Scholastic Book Fair. Visiting the book fair will be like visiting a bookstore just for children. You and your child will find the newest and best books available in children's literature. Soon your child will bring home a copy of the Book Fair flyer, along with a detailed parent letter. The flyer will highlight many of the books featured at the fair, all of which have been carefully selected by reputable educators and editors. In addition, all purchases will benefit our school library program by generating funds for new books, materials and programs. We look forward to seeing you at our Scholastic Book Fair.

Accelerated Reader is a program we use at Durham Elementary School. Students read books at the appropriate reading level and they read at their own pace. Students then take a quiz on what they have read. The information gathered from the quiz will give students and teachers immediate feedback on the student's reading and vocabulary progress.
Durham Elementary School has a subscription with QuizList Interactive for students to use to check book levels & find books they would like to read. Using QuizList Interactive, students can search the list
from home. They can enter their own reading level range
and then add keywords to search for subjects they're interested in.
