Library Information

Library Goals:

The goal of our library program is to engage all students in reading. The library provides accessto Accelerated Reading for grades 2nd-5th. The K-1 program is primarily instructional with emphasis on book care and use, library manners, fun songs and stories and group participation.

Daily Library Hours:

 9:00 am-12:00 pm

12:30 pm - 3:30 pm

Students are welcome in the library during scheduled AR times, scheduled class times and when their teachers deem it appropriate.

Book Check-Out Policy:

K: will be checking out books starting in February

1- students may checkout 1 book per week

2- students may checkout 2 books at a time

3- students may checkout 3 books at a time

4- students may checkout 4 books at a time

5- students may checkout 5 books at a time

Computer Lab:
Students have access to 4 iMac computers for AR testing.

Donations:
Donations of books appropriate for K-5 grades are welcome.

Events:
Book Fair: Dec. 5-9, 2011. Volunteers are essential for the success of this event. If interested please call 895-4697 ext 236.

This being my first year at Durham Elementary, I am enjoying getting to know your children and what they like to read. Every week at DES is BOOK WEEK!!
