The year has gotten off to a great start! We have had some wonderful PTS events
and fundraisers so far.
- Thanks
to Eva-Lis Southam and all of her committee members for a fun-filled and
successful Mosquito Festival.
There is a lot of community support of the Mosquito Festival in the
form of donations for the silent auction. The PTS would like to extend a huge thank you for the
continuing support of our school and children.
- Debbie Albert has worked with the
children and staff to come up with a wonderful idea for Make a Difference
Day. The entire school has
been collecting blankets to donate to those in need. Thank you Debbie and all those who
have sent in blankets.
- Red
Ribbon week was a great success thanks to Sunny Hernandez and all of her
helpers. If you are near the
office, you should check out the aerial photo of the kids. Thanks also to Agri-Electric, Wade
Thorpe and Terri DuBose for your work on the photo!
- Last but not least, thank you to
Kim Thorpe for her work on the cookie dough fundraiser. What a huge undertaking and Kim
had the entire project organized and running smoothly. This is our biggest fundraiser of
the year due to all the work by the students, the parents, the committee,
but especially due to the enormous support of the community of
Durham. Thank you to everyone
who did their part.
We have some fun activities coming up:
- The
Book Faire will be in the DES library from Dec. 8 – Dec. 12. This is a great chance to pick up
a few books for Christmas gifts while supporting our library.
- The
Christmas Boutique is also drawing near. The children love this opportunity to ÒsecretlyÓ
purchase gifts for their families.
The Boutique will be held on Dec. 18.
- In
January we have the Math-a-Thon.
It will take place on Jan. 29.
- On
February 18th we have our next Skate Night at Cal Skate in
Chico. The skate night will
be held from 6-8 p.m. This
will be a fun night so bring the family out to skate and support your
school.
As always, we would love to see new faces and hear new ideas
at our PTS meetings. If you can
join us, please do. The next few
meetings are as follows:
- Wednesday,
December 17th at 6:30 in the DES cafeteria
- Wednesday, January 21st at 6:30 in
the DES staff room
- Wednesday,
February 18th at 6:30 at Cal Skate
